Terms of Service

Welcome to TraceThatIP. By accessing or using our IP geolocation and network tools, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TraceThatIP, including our IP Lookup, What's My IP, IP Formatter, and raw output tools, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must discontinue use of the service immediately.

2. Service Description

TraceThatIP provides free IP address geolocation tools that allow users to look up the approximate geographic location, Internet Service Provider, timezone, and network metadata associated with any public IPv4 address. The information is sourced from trusted third-party geolocation databases and is provided strictly for informational purposes only. It should not be used as the sole basis for legal, security, law enforcement, or other critical decision-making without independent verification.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use our service responsibly and lawfully. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Use our service for any unlawful purpose, including stalking, harassment, or attempting to identify individuals
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or overload our servers, infrastructure, or API endpoints
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, or scripts) to access the service at a rate that may degrade performance for other users — we enforce rate limits of 300 requests per minute
  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or exploit any portion of the service for commercial purposes without prior written consent
  • Circumvent or attempt to bypass our security measures, including CSRF token validation and origin verification

4. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive to provide the most accurate geolocation data possible by aggregating information from multiple industry-leading providers, we cannot guarantee complete accuracy in all cases. IP geolocation is inherently an approximate science — results are typically accurate to the city level but may not reflect the exact physical location of a device. Accuracy can be affected by VPN usage, proxy servers, mobile network routing, corporate network configurations, and regional internet registry data freshness. Users should not rely solely on our data for critical applications.

5. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding on TraceThatIP — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and user interface elements — are the property of TraceThatIP and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on our content without explicit permission.

6. Limitation of Liability

TraceThatIP is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, our service. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, and punitive damages.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically. For information about how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy.

8. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms of Service or believe you have encountered a violation, please contact us. We take all reports seriously and respond within 24 to 48 hours.
